Staff Correspondent Teressa, Jan 03: In a scary incident as many as 13 passengers went missing with a Pantoon from Teressa Island s Port area yesterday night, after embarkation snow trails of passengers. According to passengers present on the ship, the incident occurred when people were uploading cargo in MV Campbell Bay vessel, which reached Teressa Island on its maiden voyage yesterday.
Eye witnesses told Andaman Sheekha that due to cyclonic weather, the ropes snapped and the Pantoon drifted into darkness infront of everybody. According to reports there were 15 people onboard the Pantoon, out of which 13 were labourers and two were government servants. However, there is no report of any causality of death. But it is believed that Good worth Several Lakhs were lost at sea. The vessel, M V Campbell Bay left Teressa only after the rescue operation ended. Official version is still awaited.
